北京時間10月4日 ，柬埔绝據越南媒體“thethao247”報道 ，寨主洲流柬埔寨國家隊主教練本田圭佑近日“坦誠”分析說 ，帅中世界中國隊“絕對無法”入圍2022年的国沦世界杯決賽圈 。
目前世預賽已經進入了12強賽階段，为亚日本 、球队伊朗 、打进韓國和澳大利亞被認為是柬埔绝直接進入決賽的最佳候選人之一 。此外 ，寨主洲流小組第3名的帅中世界兩支球隊將有機會進入附加賽。但是国沦這位前AC米蘭球員 、現任柬埔寨隊教練卻從球隊名單中劃掉了中國隊的为亚名字。
本田圭佑表示 ：“從與日本隊的球队比賽就可以看出來 ，中國隊絕對無法參加2022年世界杯——他們構不成任何威脅 ，打进已經淪為亞洲三流球隊了 。柬埔绝以中國隊目前的足球水平 ，他們很難打進卡塔爾世界杯的決賽圈。”
在小組賽前兩輪的比賽過後 ，中國隊和越南隊都積0分 ，但是因為淨勝球劣勢排名墊底 ，因此當地時間10月8日中越之戰對中國隊來說尤為重要 。
