上海海港冬訓至今一共踢了8場熱身賽，海港本土球員中進球最多的本土是打入4球的陳純新 。他的年级進球數和巴西前鋒洛佩斯相同 ，在隊內僅次於打入8球的生爆奧地利國腳中鋒阿瑙托維奇 。

今年冬訓的生爆小爆發，和陳純新去年一年在一線隊得到的发场鍛煉有著巨大的關係。他自己也這麽認為 ，球仅奇“整個2020年，次于畢竟是跟著一線隊的高水平老大哥和外援一起訓練 ，這對我幫助非常大 ，可以說是自己很明顯感覺到有提高 。去年 ，雖然上場打正式比賽的機會不是很多 ，但從迪拜到蘇州，再到卡塔爾 ，一整年的高強度訓練我一堂都沒有拉下 ，而且自己平時還會加練 ，所以我覺得自己是正在向上走的一個趨勢 。”
陳純新還表示 ，一線隊第一年的經曆讓他在心態上也更加適應了 ，“去年熱身賽踢得蠻多 ，正式比賽機會少 ，所以在亞冠賽場完成自己一線隊首秀的那場比賽 ，其實發揮得不是特別滿意 。今年我的心態已經適應了這種節奏，適應這種比賽的氛圍，發揮得比較自如 。”
“能夠有進球，是對自己能力的一種認可，也是平時刻苦訓練的一種回報 。”陳純新表示，熱身賽的進球並不能真正代表什麽，但他會以此為契機 ，繼續努力提升自己的水平 。
他還透露，自己不錯的表現也和球隊新主帥萊科給他安排的新位置有關 ，“我現在的位置相對來說回歸到中場一點 ，也就是前腰。而且主教練的戰術打法比較和我的胃口 ，再加上我在比賽中的運氣比較好一點 。”
對於這位年輕球員 ，主帥萊科在平時的訓練中也沒有少“操心” 。陳純新介紹說 ：“新教練在訓練上幫助了我很多 ，特別是這個新位置的理解上 。有時候在訓練場上 ，他會拉著我的手 ，帶著我如何跑位，什麽時候往回 ，什麽時候往前 。他特別強調空間概念 ，不需要我做無效的跑動 。”
和其他隊友的感受一樣 ，陳純新也是說到了一個“累”字 ，“冬訓第一個星期到現在最大的感受就是疲勞感。主教練很強調體能 ，每周都安排高強度的比賽 ，八周下來我們踢了很多場熱身賽。而且不光是比賽，平時的訓練都保持著這樣的強度 。”
中超新賽季即將開始 ，談及自己的目標 ，陳純新說道 ：“希望自己能多踢點比賽 ，有好的表現 。更希望球隊能夠朝著冠軍前進 。”
