而《太陽報》也進一步確認了羅馬諾的消息 ，熱刺在豐塞卡的談判破裂之後，加圖索現在是執教熱刺的頭號人選 。看起來新任總監帕拉蒂奇在選擇主教練方麵更青睞自己熟悉的意甲。無論豐塞卡還是加圖索 ，都有在意甲執教的經驗 。
不過，與豐塞卡的“擦肩而過”被外界認為主要還是未能在合同待遇方麵達成最終的一致 。較之豐塞卡 ，加圖索當球員時的名氣顯然更大一些 ，至於執教成績 ，唯一拿的出手的便是上賽季的意大利杯冠軍 。但是知名球星退役後執教 ，最大的優勢便是能夠通過自己的名氣在更衣室內獲得更多的權威和信任 。或許，熱刺方麵欣賞加圖索 ，也有這一方麵的考量 。
