北京時間2月26日晚上 ，埃里英超升班馬布倫特福德迎來聯賽第27輪角逐 ，克森將在主場對陣紐卡斯爾 。时隔帅宣大戰當前，个月布倫特福德主帥托馬斯-弗蘭克在賽前新聞發布會上宣布 ，重返埃裏克森將會在對陣紐卡斯爾的绿茵比賽中出戰 。
“埃裏克森將會出現在這場比賽中的场主大名單裏 ，且登場出戰 。布战這對於所有布倫特福德的复出隊員和工作人員來說 ，無疑是埃里令人振奮的一天 。”布倫特福德主帥托馬斯-弗蘭克接受記者采訪時確定，克森埃裏克森時隔八個月後，时隔帅宣再次身披戰袍出現在綠茵場上 ，个月“對於埃裏克森和他的重返家人而言，明天的绿茵比賽將顯得格外重要 。”
埃裏克森上一次出現在綠茵場上 ，還要追溯到去年夏天 ：歐洲杯小組賽第一輪 ，丹麥與芬蘭的比賽中 ，埃裏克森首發出場 ，上半場結束前 ，他在沒有身體對抗的情況下倒地且昏厥，隨後比賽腰斬 。在丹麥隊長克亞爾的幫助下 ，在比賽場地醫務人員的緊急搶救下 ，埃裏克森經過長時間的心肺複蘇術之後蘇醒 ，被擔架抬下球場後進入救護車 ，第一時間被送到當地醫院 ，接受更進一步的治療 。此後 ，埃裏克森被診斷為心髒病 ，他與死神可謂是擦肩而過 ，當時專家均認為這位丹麥人將告別足球 。
不過 ，埃裏克森並未選擇退役 ，在身體康複後，繼續從事職業足球 。由於意大利相關規定的限製 ，埃裏克森無法繼續在亞平寧足壇踢球 ，隻能與國際米蘭選擇解約 ，成為一名自由身球員 。在經過慎重考慮後 ，埃裏克森決定加盟英超球會布倫特福德 ，雙方簽訂一份為期半年的合同 。在經曆一段時間的磨合後 ，埃裏克森即將迎來“重生”後的首秀 ，他將在今天晚上代表布倫特福德出戰與紐卡斯爾的比賽 。
作為英超升班馬 ，布倫特福德本賽季高開低走 ，英超聯賽26輪戰罷 ，僅取得6勝6平14負，積24分 ，排在積分榜第14位 ，僅比少賽3場、排名倒數第三的伯恩利高出4分；顯而易見，布倫特福德本賽季的保級壓力非常大 ，但對於埃裏克森來說 ，在經曆這麽多曲折之後 ，享受足球帶來的快樂才是首位 。
