北京時間11月30日淩晨 ，姆巴2021年金球獎頒獎典禮開幕前夕 ，佩生巴黎聖日耳曼王牌姆巴佩接受采訪時表示 ，涯至他誓要在職業生涯裏至少拿到一次金球獎 ，少拿同時他表示想迫不及待地想知道金球獎謎底 ，次金看看哪位傳奇獲獎。球奖
憑借著在國家隊和俱樂部取得的想实现还需努成績和表現 ，姆巴佩入圍了2021年金球獎30人候選名單，姆巴作為法國人 ，佩生自然對由法國媒體主辦的涯至金球獎 ，更有特殊的少拿感情 。早在2018年 ，次金姆巴佩當選了由金球獎主辦方頒發的球奖科帕獎（最佳年輕球員獎） ，同年在金球獎的想实现还需努排名上高居第四 ，僅次於莫德裏奇 、姆巴C羅和格列茲曼 。當然 ，姆巴佩成為金球獎候選人的時間更早 ，2017年，他先是在摩納哥大放異彩，然後加盟巴黎聖日耳曼 ，憑借著那一年的出色表現 ，姆巴佩最終在金球獎評選中排在第七位 。值得一提的是 ，2019年金球獎評選中 ，姆巴佩再次排名第六 ，而去年的評選則因為疫情取消 。
