此前據《足球報》從浙江俱樂部負責球員引援的进行接触副總吳少堃了解到，俱樂部曾在引援過程中打算引進一名曾在俄羅斯世界杯決賽出場的因限世界級巨星 。這名球星知道中國聯賽薪水很高，薪疫他也很喜歡中國文化 ，浙江因此他和浙江隊接觸 。队曾达成由於這名球星是莫德豪門的主力 ，他在聯賽和歐冠都有出色的进行接触表現 。他如果來中國踢球 ，因限肯定會引發轟動，薪疫但由於防疫原因和限薪令 ，浙江最終這名球星錯過加盟浙江隊。队曾达成浙江隊還差點簽下另外兩名現在在歐洲五大聯賽踢主力的莫德球員，但最終也因為無法進入中國而錯過 。
隨著浙江記者徐毅發文，這一曾接近加盟豪門的世界級球星也浮出水麵。浙江隊和莫德裏奇的經紀人保持著不錯的關係 ，對方也曾和浙江隊進行接觸 。當時正值皇馬和莫德裏奇續約談判期間 ，莫德裏奇留在皇馬則需要接受降薪 ，離隊的想法很正常 。但是無奈中國聯賽限行政策力度很大 ，最終他也和浙江隊擦肩而過 。
莫德裏奇在5月份和皇馬續約 ，據西媒消息球員續約後年薪的確也降低了10% ，而浙江隊雖然無緣簽下莫德裏奇，但是他們最後簽下的是魔笛國家隊的隊友安德裏亞舍維奇 。而隨著拉莫斯離隊 ，莫德裏奇將會成為更衣室十分關鍵的存在 ，莫德裏奇在皇馬陣中效力了9個賽季 ，他是更衣室裏性格最好 、最受尊敬的球員之一 。《馬卡報》認為 ，卡塞米羅 、莫德裏奇以及本澤馬和卡瓦哈爾能夠在拉莫斯離隊後 ，幫助皇家馬德裏邁入一個新的時代。
