事實上，種族主義者一直對待白人球員與非白人球員采取雙重標準 。在他們的意識裏 ，白人球員在比賽中出現失誤在多數情況下都是可以被原諒的 ，而非白人球員犯錯則是不可饒恕的 。對於種族主義者來說 ，黃皮膚和黑皮膚的球員在比賽中有精彩的發揮也能得到他們的喝彩，而他們一旦出現失誤或者狀態低迷 ，就會立刻被攻擊 。
