在12月31日下午進行的超甲中超聯賽第21輪 ，也就是附加第2階段保級組倒數第2輪角逐中 ，青島隊以0比1不敵天津津門虎隊。赛敲时间由於同輪大連人隊以0比2不敵滄州雄獅隊從而以16分滑落至本組積分榜倒數第2位，定月定因此僅積11分的日月日两仍待青島隊已經鎖定本賽季中超聯賽最後1名的位置，這意味著他們將在中超 、回合中甲附加賽中與本賽季中超聯賽季軍浙江隊遭遇 。进行具体按照計劃，开球超甲升降級附加賽兩回合比賽將分別於明年1月8日 、超甲12日在蘇州賽區進行。附加
根據競賽規程 ，赛敲时间本賽季中超最後2名應與本賽季中甲第3名浙江隊 、定月定第4名成都蓉城隊分別遭遇 。日月日两仍待具體對陣形勢為青島隊對陣浙江隊；中超第16名球隊（天津津門虎 、回合重慶兩江競技、进行具体大連人3隊之一）對陣成都蓉城隊 。
目前 ，中國足協與中足聯籌備組基本確定了超甲升降級附加賽的比賽日程、比賽地點 。兩回合4場比賽如無意外將會在承接中超保級組賽事的蘇州賽區進行。賽事組委會原計劃將2回合4場比賽分別安排在4個不同比賽日進行 。不過經過慎重考慮後 ，主辦方最終還是決定將兩回合比賽（每回合各2場比賽）分別安排在1月8日、12日舉行 。有傳聞稱 ，開球時間均安排在各比賽日下午3點半 。不過相關人士31日表示 ，具體開球時間仍待定 。
賽製規定 ，如果雙方在兩回合常規比賽時間裏總比分戰平 ，那麽將通過加時賽決定勝負 ，如果加時賽兩隊總進球數仍相同 ，則需要通過點球大戰決定勝負 。
