在前幾日 ，馬夏爾接受采訪時也談起了冬窗的選擇 ：“對於我來說，加盟塞維利亞是再次獲得機會並享受足球的最佳選擇 ，我在曼聯非常的失敗 ，因為我無法獲得足夠的出場時間 。我在塞維利亞感覺非常好 ，這裏非常完美 ，我也有出場機會 。”
但是馬夏爾在塞維利亞的日子並不像他說的那樣順利 ，在加盟塞維利亞後，馬夏爾僅為球隊打入一球助攻一次 ，發揮沒有達到球隊與球迷的預期 。在上周末的西甲對戰皇家社會的比賽中，馬夏爾首發出場 ，但是比賽中碌碌無為 ，沒有一腳打在門框範圍以內的射門 ，比賽第59分鍾就被替換下場 。而在其下場時 ，還遭遇了一些球迷的噓聲 。
西班牙媒體《馬卡報》對此事進行了更進一步的報道 ，這家媒體稱 ，馬夏爾至今依舊沒有適應塞維利亞的體係 ，他對於被提前換下場感到不滿 。盡管塞維利亞曾經向馬夏爾保證他會是球隊重要的一員，但是目前球隊的戰術風格根本不適合馬夏爾 。
