在11月中旬的世界杯歐洲區預選賽中 ，威爾士將在主場連續迎戰白俄羅斯和比利時。目前威爾士在E組積分榜上排名第三，仍有望獲得小組第二 。而貝爾此前已經代表威爾士隊出場99次 ，即將迎來自己的國家隊第100場比賽 。
羅伯特-佩奇教練表示 ：“我知道在國家隊的第100場比賽很重要 ，當貝爾迎來國家隊百場時我和他在一起共事 ，這種感覺很特別 。但我了解貝爾 ，他在比賽中隻會專注於獲得3分 。等到我們獲勝之後，我們將專注於慶祝他的第100場比賽。他不希望這分散自己對工作的注意力。”
