隨著俄羅斯出兵烏克蘭 ，官方兩國體育圈不可避免地受到了巨大影響 。俄乌如今國際足聯就官方宣布 ，外籍在俄羅斯和烏克蘭工作的教练外籍球員 、外籍教練 ，合同可以選擇中止合同，中止並且以自由轉會的可自方式加盟新東家 。
針對在烏克蘭和俄羅斯工作的由转外籍球員教練 ，FIFA的官方處理方式有些許不同 。所有在烏克蘭工作的俄乌外籍球員和外籍教練，合同都已經被轉為自動中止的外籍情況 ，除非他們和俱樂部之間達成另外的教练協議 。合同中止狀態將持續到2022年6月30日 ，合同在此之前這些球員和教練都擁有自由身 ，中止可以免費加盟任何新球隊
考慮到俄羅斯足協未必會配合國際足聯的可自新規定，國際足聯特地加了個特殊條款 。如果在俄羅斯工作的外籍球員教練無法在3月10日內與俱樂部達成合同自動中止協議的話 ，他們可以單方麵中止合同至2022年6月30日 。在合同中止期間 ，外籍球員和教練同樣能夠以自由身加盟任何球隊 。
目前五大聯賽注冊窗口已經關閉 ，為了給在俄羅斯 、烏克蘭踢球的外籍球員更多的機會 ，國際足聯允許他們在4月7日之前在新東家完成注冊 。為了保護賽事的完整性 ，每家俱樂部最多隻能通過這種方式注冊兩名新援 。對於逃離烏克蘭的未成年球員 ，他們的身份是未成年難民 ，這將使得他們免受國際足聯“未成年球員禁止國際轉會”這一規定的限製 。
