此前，英媒有報道稱 ，葡体曼聯聯係了目前賦閑在家的主帅前皇馬主帥齊達內，但法國教頭拒絕了這一邀約 ，阿莫而之前與曼聯傳出過緋聞的林和洛佩意大利名帥孔蒂已成為了熱刺新帥 。英國媒體表示 ，巴黎現任主帥波切蒂諾成為了曼聯的新帥頭號人選 ，但眼下 ，曼聯想要在賽季中途讓波切蒂諾離開巴黎來到老特拉福德是一件十分困難的事情。因此 ，葡萄牙體育的36歲少帥阿莫林和塞維利亞主帥洛佩特吉成為曼聯的可能選擇 。
《曼徹斯特晚報》表示，C羅的經紀人門德斯正推動塞維利亞主帥洛佩特吉接手曼聯 ，洛佩特吉在2019年成為塞維利亞主教練，曾帶隊奪得歐聯杯冠軍。葡萄牙體育現任主帥魯本-阿莫林則非常年輕 ，出生於1985年 ，2020年開始擔任葡體主教練 。上賽季 ，阿莫林帶領葡萄牙體育力壓波爾圖奪得聯賽冠軍。據悉 ，阿莫林合同中含有一條價值3000萬歐元的解約金條款 。
