英格蘭將在溫布利球場開啟他們的盘外本屆歐洲杯之旅 ，而他們的招英坐拥首戰對手就是三年前的世界杯上將他們淘汰了的老冤家克羅地亞。《鏡報》稱 ，格兰按照目前的秘招天氣預報測算 ，比賽時球場氣溫將達到30度以上 ，天助而這會導致歐足聯設置的狮登一些特殊規則生效 。
按照規則，盘外這場在當地時間下午2點開球的招英坐拥比賽，將會擁有2次補水時間 。格兰比賽進行至第25分鍾和第70分鍾時 ，兩隊都將會有90秒補水休息時間，而這顯然會打亂一些流暢的戰術部署。
