本輪意甲聯賽那不勒斯的均轮比賽在先 ，他們在客場艱難地1-0戰勝升班馬薩勒尼塔納 。不败而隨後進行的意甲比賽米蘭必須獲勝才能繼續和那不勒斯並駕齊驅 ，米蘭頂住巨大的争冠争霸壓力客場2-1戰勝了羅馬 ，取得意甲七連勝的形势同時終結了羅馬主帥穆裏尼奧在意甲連續43個主場不敗的紀錄 。
在本賽季的米兰意甲聯賽中 ，米蘭從一開始就拿出了絕佳狀態 ，双雄11輪聯賽過後米蘭取得10勝1平的均轮不敗戰績 ，隻是不败客場1-1戰平了尤文 。不過米蘭的意甲奪冠最大競爭對手那不勒斯同樣有幾乎完美的開局 ，那不勒斯在前11輪意甲聯賽同樣10勝1平積31分 ，隻是客場0-0被羅馬逼平。
目前那不勒斯和米蘭在意甲積分榜上占據前兩名 ，而第三名國米已經落後兩隊7分 ，第四名羅馬更是已經落後12分 。顯然，那不勒斯和米蘭已經成為本賽季的意甲奪冠熱門 。相比之下 ，那不勒斯11輪打進23球僅丟3球 ，攻防更加均衡 ，而米蘭則是打進25球丟10球 ，在防守中還有待繼續改善 。
米蘭在本賽季的歐冠小組賽中被分到死亡之組 ，此前連續輸給了利物浦、馬競 、波爾圖 ，三連敗後目前在B組積分榜上墊底。不過歐冠小組出線機會渺茫 ，卻可以讓米蘭接下來把更多精力專注於意甲聯賽中 ，這對米蘭爭奪意甲冠軍反而更有利 。
最近兩個賽季意甲霸主尤文圖斯進入了調整期 ，上賽季國米乘機奪冠終止了尤文的意甲九連冠 ，而本賽季米蘭也有望衝擊冠軍 。米蘭上一次奪得意甲冠軍還是在2010-11賽季 ，如果本賽季能夠最終奪得意甲冠軍 ，將是時隔10年後奪冠 ，這對紅黑軍團來說非常值得慶祝，也將意味著米蘭終於走出了此前多年以來的低穀期 ，有了重新崛起的勢頭 。
