《法國足球》近日發布視頻，官方公布為2021年金球獎候選人選公布進行預熱 。月日《法國足球》宣布，金球奖候奖當地時間10月8日將公布男女金球獎 、选月行颁雅辛獎（最佳門將） 、日进科帕獎（最佳U21球員）的官方公布提名人選 。頒獎典禮將於11月29日在法國巴黎的月日夏特萊劇院舉行 。
金球獎是金球奖候奖由《法國足球》（France Football）自1956年起舉辦的，授予每年度最優秀的选月行颁歐洲足球運動員的獎項 ，也是日进世界足壇上最富盛名 、影響力最大的官方公布足球獎項評選之一 。去年夏天 ，月日《法國足球》宣布由於缺乏足夠公平公正的金球奖候奖評選條件 ，2020年的选月行颁金球獎取消 ，這引起了不小的日进爭議 ，也讓當時的熱門人選萊萬錯過了圓夢的機會 。
值得一提的是 ，由於今年是歐洲杯 、美洲杯年，贏得歐洲杯冠軍的意大利中場核心若日尼奧以及贏得美洲杯冠軍的阿根廷球星梅西 ，成為了金球獎的熱門候選人 。《法國足球》此前發文展望金球獎候選時 ，梅西和若日尼奧就已成為熱門人選。
