北京時間7月9日 ，安胖英國媒體《太陽報》消息 ，开赛二進宮皇馬的前预安切洛蒂日前接受采訪時表示 ，他歐洲杯開始前就預測意大利與英格蘭爭奪大賽冠軍 ，测英如今應驗了，意争他直言曼奇尼率領的冠蓝藍衫軍團給球迷們帶來了巨大的驚喜 。
本屆歐洲杯 ，衫带意大利和英格蘭都取得了傲人的巨大惊喜成績 ，前者小組賽豪奪三連勝 ，安胖以小組第一晉級，开赛隨後淘汰奧地利 、前预比利時和西班牙晉級決賽 。测英後者小組賽取得2勝1平成績，意争同樣以小組第一身份出線 ，冠蓝隨後淘汰德國 、衫带烏克蘭和丹麥 ，三獅軍團甚至完成了前五場比賽零封的神跡 。兩隊本屆大賽的6場比賽戰績皆是5勝1平 。需要指出的是，意大利已經完成了驚人的A級賽事33場不敗 ，競技狀態超佳 。
談到意大利與英格蘭會師2020歐洲杯決賽時 ，皇馬主帥安切洛蒂說 ，“歐洲杯開始前我就說了 ，現在我再說一遍 ，我看好的意大利和英格蘭都殺進了決賽 ，這符合我最初的預測 ，希望這屆大賽就提前結束了吧 。”
對於英格蘭和意大利為何能夠殺進歐洲杯決賽 ，安切洛蒂也給出了自己的解釋 ，“英格蘭有多達6名球員參加了上賽季歐冠決賽 ，這對於他們征戰本屆大賽是一個重要的數字 。意大利則帶來了一個巨大的驚喜 ，同時也是這項賽事的神奇之處 ，因為曼奇尼麾下的這支球隊踢的是攻擊型足球 ，這是沒有預料到的。而且他們本身擁有一套非常有經驗的後防線 ，以及擅於奔跑且保持熱情的年輕人 。”
安切洛蒂所說的英格蘭6人參加歐冠決賽，分別是芒特 、裏斯-詹姆斯 、奇爾韋爾、福登 、斯特林和沃克 。需要指出的是 ，意大利中場核心若日尼奧也參加了歐冠決賽 ，他幫助切爾西擊敗曼城奪得了冠軍 ，且他本屆大賽表現得十分出色。
根據賽程安排，意大利與英格蘭的2020歐洲杯決賽將於北京時間7月12淩晨打響 ，地點是在倫敦溫布利球場，藍衫軍團力爭53年來首個歐洲杯冠軍 ，三獅軍團則力爭隊史上第一個德勞內杯 。
