小組賽打完前兩輪 ，潘德北馬其頓就已經確定在小組墊底 ，夫宣最後一輪對荷蘭的役赛役北比賽 ， 對這個首次征戰大賽的后退化石國家而言，將是马其幕一場榮譽之戰 ，而在這場比賽開始之前 ，顿活北馬其頓頭號球星潘德夫在新聞發布會上宣布 ，此谢這將是潘德他職業生涯的最後一場比賽 。
“我和熱那亞的夫宣合同已經結束了，接下來我將不再從事職業足球 ，役赛役北在職業生涯的后退化石尾聲能以這樣一場比賽來告別，這無疑是马其幕讓我夢想成真的一刻 。”在北馬其頓對陣荷蘭的顿活賽前發布會上 ，北馬其頓隊長潘德夫作為球員代表出席，此谢宣布了他在本屆歐洲杯後退役的潘德決定 。
小組賽首戰對陣奧地利 ，今夏將年滿38歲的潘德夫 ，打進了北馬其頓隊史上的首粒歐洲杯正賽入球 ，在預選賽階段 ，也是憑借這名老將的關鍵入球 ，幫助球隊在附加賽中淘汰格魯吉亞 ，曆史性地挺進了歐洲杯決賽圈 。
作為北馬其頓曆史上最偉大的球員 ，潘德夫在意甲留下了諸多光輝瞬間 ，他此前曾效力於羅馬 、國際米蘭 、那不勒斯等意甲球隊 ，而在2009-10賽季 ，國際米蘭曆史性地贏得三冠王時 ，潘德夫也是當時球隊陣中的一員 。
“很高興我能在這樣一場比賽中告別國家隊 ，告別職業足球 ，而我也希望所有球迷都能為我們感到高興 。”潘德夫動情地說 ，“對我來說 ，這是個再合適不過的告別時機 ，希望這一代的北馬其頓足球人 ，能實現進軍世界杯的終極夢想 ，因為他們都是非常出色的球員 。”
