小組賽首戰對陣奧地利 ，今夏將年滿38歲的潘德夫 ，打進了北馬其頓隊史上的首粒歐洲杯正賽入球 ，在預選賽階段 ，也是憑借這名老將的關鍵入球，幫助球隊在附加賽中淘汰格魯吉亞 ，曆史性地挺進了歐洲杯決賽圈。
作為北馬其頓曆史上最偉大的球員 ，潘德夫在意甲留下了諸多光輝瞬間 ，他此前曾效力於羅馬、國際米蘭 、那不勒斯等意甲球隊 ，而在2009-10賽季，國際米蘭曆史性地贏得三冠王時 ，潘德夫也是當時球隊陣中的一員 。
“很高興我能在這樣一場比賽中告別國家隊 ，告別職業足球 ，而我也希望所有球迷都能為我們感到高興 。”潘德夫動情地說 ，“對我來說，這是個再合適不過的告別時機 ，希望這一代的北馬其頓足球人 ，能實現進軍世界杯的終極夢想，因為他們都是非常出色的球員 。”
