馬克-布林漢姆還表示，相關機構正專門為邊裁研究一套半自動的科技設備 ，來幫助他們進行越位判罰 ，“每個人都開始意識到 ，比賽中有球隊取得進球後 ，球迷經常要等待VAR確認進球是否有效 ，這對於球迷來說不是一個很好的體驗 。我們正在研究一項技術 ，可以讓邊裁馬上能夠判斷球員是否越位 ，這將使得裁判員之間能夠就判罰結果及時溝通，做出正確的決定 。從理論上講 ，如果這項技術最終能夠運用，越位判罰就不需要視頻助理裁判了 。”
