北京時間3月6日，朗尼留队力赴據《鏡報》報道 ，克算曼聯主帥朗尼克在德比賽前的为涨新聞發布會上 ，強調了本場比賽的薪或勝利事關紅魔爭奪前四 ，以及暗示了不良的也全結果將決定球員合同 ，並最終導致某些人的朗尼留队力赴離開 。

朗尼克對此表示：“當曼城在老特拉福德獲得了2-0的勝利時 ，他們踢的很漂亮 ，比賽甚至可能有更高的分差產生 。現在 ，對我們來說，這場比賽將會確認我們的球隊在過去三個月裏有何進步 。”
