北京時間今天淩晨 ，梅西FIFA官方通過線上形式 ，早知祝贺進行了年度頒獎典禮 。未获在世界足球先生的仍想競爭中，梅西不敵萊萬屈居第二 。出席《世界體育報》指出 ，颁奖梅西事先就已經得知自己輸給了萊萬，私下但他仍然非常大氣地通過視頻連線的已莱万方式參加了這次頒獎典禮 。
在視頻連線中 ，梅西梅西笑著與主持人進行對話 ，早知祝贺他的未获行為舉止顯得非常得體 。《世界體育報》指出 ，仍想梅西的出席舉動顯示出了他出色的風度，而這正是颁奖C羅所不具備的 。近年來 ，私下隻要C羅沒有得到最高獎項 ，葡萄牙人就會拒絕出席頒獎典禮 。在去年11月底的金球獎頒獎典禮中 ，C羅就沒有到現場，他不願意親眼見證梅西捧起個人第7個金球獎杯 。
《世界體育報》還指出，梅西通過個人方式 ，私下裏已經聯係到了萊萬，並祝賀波蘭人衛冕世界足球先生。在梅西贏得個人第7個金球獎後 ，他就曾在頒獎典禮上呼籲《法國足球》為萊萬補發2020年的金球獎杯 。
不過需要指出的是 ，梅西雖然祝賀了萊萬 ，但卻在投票中沒有選擇波蘭人 。身為阿根廷隊長的梅西 ，在投票中擁有三張分值不同的選票 。這三張選票 ，被梅西依次投給了內馬爾 、姆巴佩和本澤馬 ，梅西並沒有為萊萬投票 。而萊萬的三張選票 ，則依次投給了若日尼奧 、梅西和C羅 ，波蘭人把第二票投給了阿根廷隊長 。
