C羅在Instagram上表示：“完全專注於2022年世界杯 ，展望战斗一如既往地為能夠代表葡萄牙國家隊參賽感到自豪 。附加风顺我們知道這條道路不會一帆風順，努力我們對自己即將麵對的 、和我們有著相同目標的對手懷有最大的尊重 。但是 ，我們將共同努力戰鬥，讓葡萄牙達到巔峰，這是我們應該處於的位置 。”
葡萄牙上一次缺席世界杯還是在1998年 ，而C羅已經參加了四屆世界杯（2006年 、2010年 、2014年 、2018年） ，對於已經37歲的C羅來說 ，這很可能將是他最後一次參加世界杯。不過葡萄牙國家隊兩名主力中衛佩佩和魯本-迪亞斯都將缺席對土耳其的比賽 ，防守可能會成為葡萄牙的短板。
