北京時間3月9日下午 ，德國足協在官網給出重磅消息 ，年欧國家隊主帥勒夫將會在2021年的洲杯歐洲杯後離開球隊 ，他將會卸任主帥一職。后卸關於勒夫的任渣接班人 ，德國足協沒有提及 。接班
勒夫球員時代非常普通，官方長時間在低級別聯賽踢球 。年欧退役後的洲杯勒夫成為了一名足球教練 ，隨後執教斯圖加特成名 ，后卸並帶隊獲得了1997-1998賽季的任渣歐洲優勝者杯的亞軍 。2004年的接班8月份，勒夫成為了德國國家隊的官方助理教練，並在2006年的年欧德國世界杯成為德國國家隊主帥 。
從此勒夫也開啟了15年的洲杯德國國家隊執教生涯 ，在其執教德國隊的15年間 ，勒夫帶領德國成績出色 ，更是在2014年的世界杯上獲得了冠軍 。截止到目前為止，他在執教德國隊的188場比賽中獲得了120勝37平31負的成績 。
盡管勒夫執教成績總體不錯，但是在2018年世界杯上小組賽未出線成為了在德國國家隊的轉折點，他因此受到了媒體與球迷的質疑 。不僅如此 ，2018年世界杯後放棄穆勒、胡梅爾斯以及博阿滕三人的決定也引發了球迷的不滿 。
而就在北京時間3月9日下午 ，德國足協在官網也爆出猛料 ，勒夫會在2021年的歐洲杯結束後卸任國家隊主帥一職 。對於勒夫的接任者 ，德國足協沒有提及。此前 ，邵爾推薦馬特烏斯執教德國 ，但是馬特烏斯在接受采訪時予以了辟謠：“我當然對足球和執教國家隊感興趣 ，但我對自己的生活感到滿意 ，我已經排除了這一點作為一個國家隊教練 ，你會被8000萬人批評，我不想將自己置於那個境遇。”
而從前幾日媒體給出的消息看 ，紅軍主帥克洛普也是接班勒夫的熱門人選 。渣叔帶隊紅軍贏得了英超與歐冠 ，但是本賽季戰績低迷 ，渣叔會被解雇的消息不斷被爆出 。
