花費巨資引援 ，但是卻開局兩連敗 ，阿爾特塔遭遇了一波信任危機 。而來自英國的《每日電訊報》則表示，留給阿爾特塔的時間並不多了 ，未來的五場比賽將會決定阿爾特塔的去留。在英超第三輪 ，阿森納會迎戰英超衛冕冠軍曼城，隨後在9月份 ，阿森納將會分別迎戰諾維奇 、伯恩利 、熱刺和布萊頓。一旦無法在這五場比賽中帶隊踢出有說服力的足球 ，阿爾特塔就會被阿森納解雇 。
另外 ，《每日電訊報》指出 ，如果阿爾特塔一旦下課，阿森納也有了換帥的人選——意大利教練孔蒂 。孔蒂是一名冠軍教練，在意甲帶隊尤文與國米都贏得了聯賽冠軍 ，而在此前執教切爾西的第一個賽季也是獲得了聯賽冠軍，而這種冠軍屬性也是阿森納缺少的 。
