本周五 ，克罗克羅斯通過社交媒體發文，斯宣宣布自己退出德國國家隊。布退此前就已經有媒體報道稱 ，出德本屆歐洲杯結束後 ，国国冠克羅斯就將結束自己的家队國腳生涯 。西班牙媒體之前也表示 ，原本克羅斯在德國4比2戰勝葡萄牙的希望比賽之後拿走了比賽用球留念 ，就是助球其將要退出國家隊的一個信號 。
克羅斯2010年首次代表國家隊出戰比賽 ，队夺至今已為德國隊出戰106場比賽 。克罗2014年巴西世界杯，斯宣克羅斯隨隊奪冠 。布退本屆歐洲杯 ，出德德國在1/8決賽0比2負於英格蘭 ，国国冠被淘汰出局 。
克羅斯在文中寫到，“我已經為德國隊出戰106場比賽，不會有下一次了 。我本希望繼續為國家隊奉獻一切 ，希望我的出場數達到109場 ，從而助球隊贏下歐洲杯冠軍。”
“很久之前我就已經決定 ，會在這屆比賽之後退出國家隊 。這一打算我早已確定 ，我不會隨隊參加2022年卡塔爾世界杯 。”
“我做出這一決定的主要原因 ，是我希望在接下來的這些年裏 ，為皇馬實現一些目標。此外 ，作為丈夫和父親 ，我也希望更多地陪伴我的妻子和三個孩子。”
