當地時間1月17日晚些時候 ，沙特沙首赛重伤主作為中國隊在卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區12強賽同組最強對手之一 ，队公单中队沙特隊公布了新一期26人集訓名單 。布集相比於往期陣容，训名沙特隊本期集訓陣容變化幅度不大 。战比最值得關注的力门當屬主力門將 ，曾經在去年10月與中國隊比賽期間重傷的将归門將奧維斯正式歸隊 。
與去年年底指派以1999年齡段U23球員為主的沙特沙首赛重伤主年輕球隊參加阿拉伯杯賽不同 ，目前在12強賽B組領跑的队公单中队沙特隊將以全主力出戰1月下旬 、2月初的布集兩場12強賽比賽 。據了解，训名參加阿拉伯杯賽的战比陣容中 ，僅有4人被沙特隊留用 。力门他們分別是将归門將穆罕默德·魯巴伊 、紮伊德·巴瓦迪 、沙特沙首赛重伤主後衛薩烏德·阿卜杜爾哈米德 、前鋒菲拉斯·布萊坎 。布萊坎正是去年10月為沙特隊打進中國隊第3球的那一人。
與去年11月客戰澳大利亞 、越南兩隊期間起用的28人陣容相比 ，沙特隊本期集訓陣容的調整幅度不大 。比如 ，除奧維斯歸隊外 ，主教練雷納德從從沙巴布隊補充征調了後衛艾哈邁德·沙拉希利取代另一位重傷的中後衛。
沙特隊中場人選的調整幅度也非常有限，4名原本就出場機會不多的球員落選 。鋒線方麵，雷納德僅僅征調了2名球員 ，他們分別是已在12強賽中攻入3球的薩勒赫·謝赫裏 、“00後”布萊坎 。球隊的多名老臣，如邊後衛沙赫拉尼 、中場薩勒姆·多薩裏 、隊長薩爾曼·法拉伊等人都在陣中 。
按照計劃 ，沙特隊將於1月23日集中，隨後於27日先主場迎戰阿曼隊 。接著 ，他們將飛赴日本，於2月1日客戰日本隊 。
