事實上 ，朋友自金球獎候選名單出爐後 ，知结網上就相繼流出了多種金球獎的梅西投票結果 ，梅西和萊萬多夫斯基這兩位大熱球員均曾拿到過最高得分 。获和而金球獎的得金頒獎方《法國足球》則在隨後辟謠 ，聲稱這些網傳的球奖結果都是假的 。

本周五 ，得金在距離金球獎頒獎隻有4天的情況下 ，來自《天空體育》的記者Matteo Moretto曝光了自己得到的最新消息 。Matteo Moretto在社交媒體上回複網友帖子時表示 ：“（金球獎屬於）梅西 ，他和他的朋友們已經知道了結果。”
本次金球獎頒獎典禮中 ，除了金球獎之外 ，還會頒發另外三個獎項 ，分別是 ：女足金球獎、科帕獎、雅辛獎 。
