皇家馬德裏和西班牙國家隊雙料隊長拉莫斯落選了本屆歐洲杯大名單，名记马球莫恩裏克給出的恩里理由是 ，拉莫斯在後半賽季沒有連續的克泄參加比賽，難以保證狀態 。愤拒但《阿斯報》主編隆塞羅炮轟 ，招皇這是员拉恩裏克對皇馬的迫害 。此外恩裏克在可以報名26名球員的受伤情況下 ，卻隻帶了24名球員 ，名记马球莫也引起了很大的恩里爭議 。
此次拉莫斯落選國家隊大名單 ，克泄是愤拒自2006年以來首次無緣國際大賽，連續9屆代表國家隊參加國際大賽的招皇紀錄也戛然而止 。拉莫斯在西班牙國家隊歐洲杯大名單公布之後發文表示：“經過幾個月的员拉艱苦努力 ，我結束了一個自己的受伤非典型賽季 ，現在是名记马球莫歐洲杯了 。為了能夠100%為皇馬和國家隊比賽 ，我每天都在為身體和靈魂奮鬥 ，但事情不能總如常所願 。無法幫助國家隊，無法保衛西班牙 ，這讓我很難過 。現在我最好休息一下 ，做到完全康複 ，明年再和過去一樣回到賽場上 ，祝隊友們好運 ，希望我們有一個很棒的歐洲杯之旅 ，向所有人表示誠摯的問候 。”
恩裏克在大名單公布後談到了拉莫斯落選的事情 ：“拉莫斯從1月以後就沒有參加係統的比賽，甚至無法完成訓練 。要做這個決定並不容易，昨天我就和拉莫斯溝通過了 。但我要做的是捍衛球隊的利益。這是我深思熟慮的結果 ，我問過他身體情況 ，對他表示尊重 ，我建議拉莫斯自私一點 ，專注於自己的恢複 。”
但恩裏克的說法並不服眾，特別是皇家馬德裏0人入選的結果使得《阿斯報》主編隆塞羅直言這是恩裏克對皇馬的迫害 。如果唯狀態論 ，長期缺陣的拉莫斯最終落選屬於一個合理的結果，那麽後半賽季連續代表皇馬出戰的納喬落選則無法服眾 。隆塞羅認為這一切都是恩裏克對皇馬的報複 。
而恩裏克更奇葩的是在可以報名26人的情況下 ，最終隻帶了24人 。西班牙隊主帥的解釋是 ：“我希望每個人都有上場的機會 ，通常來說一屆比賽會有18人或者19人能夠踢上比賽 。”恩裏克選擇少報名2人的決定 ，也使得西班牙隊在大名單公布後立即被看衰 。
