With Korean pop-culture spreading its wings globally, Netflix is moving quickly to jump on the K-drama bandwagon.
The streaming TV provider just announced plans to produce its first ever original Korean drama series, slated to be out in 2018.

The 12-episode series is based on a popular webtoon by Kyi Young Chon, a popular South Korean comic author.

"We look forward to transforming this wildly imaginative story into a top-quality drama series for over 86 million Netflix members around the world."
K-pop, or Korean pop music, has arguably achieved further reach in the West, on the backs of stars like Psy and Big Bang, but Korean TV has yet to reach equivalent popularity overseas.
With Love Alarmplanned for release to Netflix users in 190 countries, this might just be the show that changes that.
