不久之前，完成CVC資本合夥公司與西甲官方達成戰略協議 ，续约該公司將向西甲注資27億歐元 。梅西這筆錢，已结絕大部分將會被分給西甲俱樂部 ，束度塞罗以緩解經濟壓力。到巴按照《馬卡報》的那今說法 ，巴薩將會得到2.7億歐元的天极注資 。在收入大幅度提升的完成情況下 ，巴薩工資帽也隨之大幅度提升 ，紅藍軍團因此能夠與梅西續約，並且為四大新援完成注冊 。
按照《每日體育報》此前的說法 ，巴薩已經和梅西談妥了一份5年合同 。梅西將會續約到2026年6月底 ，他整體將會降薪50%。梅西有權在2023年夏天選擇解約 ，如果屆時阿根廷人離開巴薩的話 ，紅藍軍團會為他支付一筆分手費，以感謝他多年來為巴薩做出的卓越貢獻 。
拉波爾塔目前的計劃 ，是在本周四官宣續約梅西。但如果沒能走完程序的話 ，巴薩希望在甘伯杯前與梅西正式完成續約 。巴薩將會在當地時間本周日參加甘伯杯，對手是尤文圖斯 。考慮到梅西尚未歸隊參加訓練，阿根廷人出戰甘伯杯的可能性不大 ，但他有可能會在續約後進行一番賽前公開演講 。
