本場比賽，曝光阿瑙托維奇替補登場後和貝伊圖萊有過幾次對抗 ，阿瑙後者有一次犯規讓阿瑙十分痛苦 。原话已進球之後阿瑙終於有機會宣泄自己情緒 ，内容隨後我們就看到了他在鏡頭前激情慶祝的海港一幕 。
塞爾維亞媒體披露 ，外援阿瑙托維奇進球後對著貝伊圖萊怒噴“X你的阿爾巴尼亞母親” ，奧地利隊長阿拉巴看到這一幕後飛快上前 ，試圖讓阿瑙閉嘴。
眾所周知 ，阿瑙托維奇的父親是塞爾維亞人 ，母親是奧地利人 。2014年 ，塞爾維亞與阿爾巴尼亞國家隊在歐預賽遭遇 ，當時一架懸掛科索沃獨立旗幟的無人機飛入場內，塞爾維亞球員米特羅維奇將旗幟拉下的動作激怒了阿爾巴尼亞人，兩隊球員在場上爆發激烈衝突 ，球迷們也加入戰團 ，比賽被迫終止。
據賽後塞爾維亞媒體報道 ，因為阿瑙托維奇具有塞爾維亞血統 ，而北馬其頓中則有25%是阿爾巴尼亞人 ，兩地有深遠的曆史矛盾 ，因此阿瑙托維奇針對這一情況進行情緒化的“口吐芬芳” 。
為了避免事態的擴大嚴重化 ，阿瑙托維奇個人通過社交媒體公開道歉，指出比賽中帶有情緒不對 ，同時堅稱自己不是種族主義者 。
“昨天在比賽中出現了一些激烈的言論 ，我想為此道歉 ，尤其是對我來自北馬其頓和阿爾巴尼亞的朋友們 。我想非常明確地說一件事 ，我不是種族主義者 ！我幾乎在每個國家都有朋友 ，認識我的每個人都知道這一點。”
截止目前 ，歐足聯對於昨天進行的三場歐洲杯比賽均未進行紀律處分 ，也就是說阿瑙托維奇暫時不會因此麵臨追加處罰 。
