德尚作為法國主帥 ，也遇到了一些質疑，但是在歐國聯半決賽與決賽中 ，法國再次證明了自己 ，球隊在半決賽兩球落後的情況下逆轉擊敗比利時 ，決賽中一球落後的情況下再次逆轉 ，擊敗西班牙奪冠。而隨著這次奪冠，法國也成為第一支集齊世界杯、歐洲杯 、聯合會杯以及歐國聯冠軍的歐洲球隊。
另外根據數據統計 ，法國已經連續25場常規時間不敗 ，其中17勝8平 。他們距離隊史紀錄僅差2場 ，法國曾在1994年9月到1999年3月連續27場不敗。
