客戰日本隊比賽於1月27日晚結束後 ，李霄励队礼中國隊代表團將乘坐當地時間28日晚起飛的鹏赛全日空航空公司航班離開日本東京 ，飛赴越南河內 ，后更隨後經過近6個半小時飛行後 ，衣室员春預計於當地時間28日晚10點25分左右飛抵目的内鼓地 。雖然國足以2球不敵日本隊後 ，节期间用在12強賽競爭中僅存微乎其微的胜利理論出線可能性 ，但中 、迷献越比賽將安排在農曆正月初一進行 ，李霄励队礼中國隊無論如何也將全力以赴爭取本場比賽的鹏赛勝利 ，避免給國人添堵 。后更據了解 ，衣室员春主帥李霄鵬在中 、内鼓日比賽結束後 ，节期间用也在更衣室裏對全隊作了一番鼓勵 。胜利
在27日晚的比賽中 ，中國隊技不如人 ，以0比2完敗在日本隊腳下，從而連續4次輸給這個強大的對手 。由於同輪同組澳大利亞隊以4比0戰勝積分墊底的越南隊 ，越南隊提前3輪出局，而暫列B組第5位 ，也就是倒數第2位的中國隊已經落後暫列第3位的澳大利亞隊9分之多，因此隻要澳大利亞隊在最後3輪比賽中取得哪怕1場平局 ，中國隊就將出局 。這意味著 ，中國隊無論下輪能否在客場取勝越南隊 ，都有可能在當輪比賽結束後出局 。
賽程顯示 ，中 、越比賽將安排在2月1日 ，也就是農曆正月初一。在新春佳節之際 ，中國隊無論如何都應避免給全國球迷及國人添堵 。
據了解 ，中 、日比賽結束後 ，現場觀戰的中國足協主要領導及工作組成員並沒有進入到球隊更衣室，或者進入場地區域接觸球隊 。主教練李霄鵬在出席新聞發布會前 ，曾在更衣室裏作了一番簡短講話 。除了主動對失利攬責外 ，他也對全隊球員的努力表示肯定與感謝 。他認為 ，隊員們完全有能力表現出比比分所體現內容更好的一麵。他還鼓勵隊員們不要放棄努力 ，爭取在春節期間 ，用一場勝利給球迷獻禮。
按照計劃 ，中國隊將於當地時間28日傍晚啟程離開東京，飛赴越南河內 。據了解，國足代表團搭乘的航班預計將於當地時間28日晚10點25分左右抵達河內 。隨後將按規定在機場接受嚴格的防疫檢測 。球隊在越南期間也將執行“氣泡式”防疫管理規定 。由於抵達越南的時間很晚，中國隊在當地的首練將安排在29日 。
