北京時間4月1日淩晨進行的纳空世預賽比賽中 ，德國主場1-2不敵北馬其頓 ，进德這是国吞隊史首次輸給北馬其頓。
算上今天的下年比賽 ，勒夫治下的世预赛首德國隊連續兩期國家隊比賽日以飽受爭議的失利收尾 ，上一次國家隊集訓期，耻辱他們以0-6慘敗於西班牙 ，纳空而在今天 ，进德世預賽正賽上他們又遭弱旅北馬其頓擊殺 ，国吞圍繞勒夫的下年批評聲勢必然停不下來 。
縱觀本場比賽過程 ，世预赛首德國並不是耻辱被技術性擊倒 ，更多的纳空來自於自身的“浪” ，包括兩個丟球後衛在防守端的进德漏人 。
而在進攻端 ，德國浪費機會更是令人痛惜，下半場兩隊1-1持平時 ，維爾納本有機會擴大比分 ，但他接到隊友京多安幾乎傳成空門的助攻 ，竟然最終踢呲了 ，維爾納糟糕的狀態或許也是德國本場的縮影 ，全場13次射門僅2次射正 ，唯一一個進球還是非運動戰得來的（京多安點射） ，德國球員這場比賽的表現堪稱災難。
除了災難之外 ，對於德國隊而言 ，這場比賽也是恥辱 。
這是德國近20年來在世預賽的首次失利 ，他們上一次世預賽失利還是在2001年1-5不敵英格蘭 ，而縱觀德國隊整個隊史 ，他們也僅僅在世預賽上輸過3次 。
值得一提的是 ，本場的失利也讓德國錯失了追平隊史（36場）世預賽不敗紀錄的機會，從2001到2021年20年間 ，德國保持了35場世預賽不敗的佳績 ，但這一紀錄在今夜被抵消。
