切爾西本場比賽開局階段踢得順風順水 ，尔纳尔又他們先是先后在第9分鍾依靠克裏斯滕森破門取得領先優勢 ，緊接著在第18分鍾憑借若日尼奧點射破門將比分擴大為2-0。伤退開局不到20分鍾便兩球領先 ，发愁藍軍勝券在握 。太大图赫然而 ，尔纳尔又讓人萬萬沒想到的先后是 ，切爾西很快遭遇了打擊。伤退第23分鍾 ，发愁盧卡庫主動要求換人，圖赫爾隨後派出哈弗茨將其替換下場 。原來 ，盧卡庫在造點的過程中疑似扭傷了腳踝 ，最終無法堅持被迫提前離場 。
比利時人傷退 ，對於主帥圖赫爾來說 ，原本就是一個不小的打擊 ，未曾想球隊很快再遭當頭一棒。比賽進行到第44分鍾 ，維爾納無對抗的情況下疑似腳部拉傷，隨後被奧多伊替換下場。也就是說，上半場比賽尚未結束 ，切爾西便已接連損失兩名球員 。更要命的是 ，受傷的還是兩名前鋒 ！對此 ，圖赫爾也是萬般無奈。
藍軍主帥在賽後接受采訪時說到 ：“盧卡庫的腳踝扭傷了 ，維爾納的肌肉和腿筋受傷了 ，我想他們會休息幾天 。通常情況下 ，球隊的傷病情況很好 ，隻有普利西奇會缺陣，但我們希望每個人都很健康。我們有很多比賽 ，非常多的比賽 ，所以現在我們必須處理傷病問題並找到解決辦法。球隊之前在維爾納和盧卡庫的幫助下贏過一些比賽 ，我們不希望這些傷病問題經常發生 ，但一個賽季裏總會發生這些情況 。”
眾所周知 ，今夏回歸的盧卡庫，是切爾西最重要的一筆簽約 ，比利時人被視為藍軍英超爭冠的最後拚圖。事實上 ，切爾西如今也正沿著計劃中的軌跡一路前行 ，不但在英超聯賽中暫時穩坐領頭羊位置 ，在歐冠賽場上也是小組出線在望 。可在賽程密集的關鍵時刻 ，球隊卻接連損兵折將，這對於藍軍來說顯然是一個不良信號。要知道 ，切爾西攻擊火力原本就不算穩定 ，如今盧卡庫、維爾納雙雙受傷 ，對於球隊而言無疑是雪上加霜 ！
