貝爾由於消極的迟暮次射態度以及“玻璃人”體質被皇馬掃地出門 ，上個賽季被租借到熱刺踢球 。全场重返熱刺的梦游门还貝爾整個賽季在英超出場20次 ，其中首發出場10次 ，遭封打入11球助攻2次 ，製造了13個進球 。平心而論 ，重返熱刺的貝爾雖然實力大不如之前 ，但是進攻效率比較高 。
貝爾是這支威爾士的“一哥” ，但是在與瑞士的比賽中 ，貝爾卻全場夢遊 。比賽中 ，貝爾0過人 、0威脅傳球 、0鏟斷 ，進攻防守都沒有亮點。全場比賽，貝爾得到的進攻機會非常少 ，僅有一次射門 ，而唯一的這次射門還發生在比賽第88分鍾 ，這唯一的一腳射門也遭到了封堵，根本沒有給對方門將製造威脅。
英國足球數據媒體《whoscored》在賽後也給了貝爾6.0分的評分 ，這也是威爾士陣中的最低分 。貝爾雖然年齡不大 ，但是已經到了足球生涯的末年 ，此前有消息稱 ，在今夏的歐洲杯後，貝爾甚至有退役的可能。在比賽尾聲 ，在一次突破被斷後 ，貝爾大口的喘著粗氣 ，這也在一定程度上說明了目前的貝爾距離巔峰還有很遠的距離 。
