由於中國男足打入了世預賽亞洲區12強賽 ，本赛保留中超聯賽“讓路”的季足将被可能性已經很大了 ，不過本賽季足協杯賽將被保留 。协杯中超球隊將在9月至11月之間進行這項賽事 ，赛事國腳缺席成為無法避免的或安事情 。
作為中國足協的本赛保留傳統賽事 ，足協杯賽其實一直備受重視 。季足将被去年中超聯賽直到7月25日才開戰 ，协杯但足協杯還是赛事在縮減參賽規模後舉行。最終山東魯能隊和江蘇蘇寧隊的或安爭冠大戰，收視率還是本赛保留相當可觀 ，這讓足協方麵非常欣慰 。季足将被

對於各隊來說 ，由於國腳無法參加足協杯比賽 ，考慮到足協杯的重要性 ，這種人員損失還是在可以接受的範圍之內 。最重要的是 ，如果這三個月時間裏中超各隊僅僅埋頭訓練，顯然對於備戰質量是存在影響的 。在這種情況下，足協杯賽事可以幫助各隊保持狀態 ，盡管缺少國腳的存在 ，但相信各隊要比往年更加重視這項賽事 。
