北京時間6月14日 ，據《太陽報》報道 ，丹麦队想丹麥門神舒梅切爾（小舒梅切爾的踢完父親）透露 ，丹麥隊並非自願參加與芬蘭隊暫停後的欧足剩餘比賽 ，而是联威受到了歐足聯方麵的“威脅” 。
在埃裏克森事件發生後，舒梅丹麥與芬蘭的丹麦队想比賽一度中斷 ，但是踢完在不久之後雙方重新開賽 ，將比賽繼續進行完成 ，欧足心理上遭受了嚴重打擊的联威丹麥隊也在本場比賽中爆冷0-1不敵對手 。
在接受媒體采訪時，舒梅丹麥足球名宿舒梅切爾談到 ：“他們都說是丹麦队想球員們要堅持比賽 ，我知道這並不是踢完事實，或者說 ，欧足也許隻有你們是联威這麽看待這件事情的真相的 。”
“他們給了丹麥隊三個選擇 ，一個是立刻上場 ，把剩下的50分鍾比賽踢完。還有一個是延期到下一個中午12點 ，同樣是把剩餘的50分鍾比賽踢完 。第三種最為簡單 ，就是直接0-3判負，比賽就不用再踢了 。”
“所以 ，你知道嗎 ，丹麥隊得自己解決這個問題。這是球員們的願望嗎 ？他們真的有選擇嗎 ？我不認為他們有選擇 ！”
“正如你昨天在新聞發布會上所聽到的那樣 ，我們的主教練非常後悔讓球員們重返球場 ，繼續踢完剩下的比賽 。”
