隨著梅西的到來 ，法國權威媒體《隊報》稱 ，佩离姆巴佩不希望自己生活在梅西的队天到比陰影下 ，因此會在今夏就選擇離開。留下而他的巴黎巴黎隊友迪馬利亞在接受采訪時卻認為姆巴佩不會離隊，因為他找不到比巴黎更好的更好球隊 。
姆巴佩在2016-2017賽季成名，球队在那個賽季的姆巴歐冠聯賽淘汰賽中 ，他打入6個進球 ，佩离吸引了全歐洲的队天到比目光 。在2017年的留下夏天 ，諸多豪門都對姆巴佩虎視眈眈 ，巴黎最終巴黎以租借外加1.8億歐元買斷的更好方式引進了姆巴佩 。
姆巴佩與巴黎的球队合同在2022年到期 ，從去年開始 ，姆巴巴黎就開始與姆巴佩談續約 ，但是姆巴佩不想續約，雙方的談判陷入僵局 。在很多媒體看來，姆巴佩渴望到皇馬踢球 ，因此不想續約 ，而是會選擇在明夏自由身走人 。
而隨著梅西的加盟，姆巴佩的離開或許會提前 。法國權威的《隊報》稱，梅西的加盟讓姆巴佩感到困擾 ，他擔心自己可能將會處於梅西和內馬爾這兩位傑出隊友的陰影之下，因此會在下周一就提交離隊報告 。
但是迪馬利亞卻有不同的看法 ，他表示 ：“我認為姆巴佩會留下 。雖然我知道世界上每一個大俱樂部都想得到他 。但是就目前來看 ，我認為他在全世界不會找到比巴黎更好的俱樂部了 。”
