在上一輪英超曼聯主場1-1戰平埃弗頓的有比也比賽中，C羅直到第57分鍾才替補出場 。格森賽後C羅很不滿地直接離場，索帅赛弗而曼聯球迷們也紛紛批評索帥沒有讓C羅首發 。罗轮换甚至連老爵爺弗格森都表示 ：“你應該始終讓你最好的有比也球員首發。”
這些言論帶給索爾斯克亞巨大的格森壓力 ，但在本輪英超賽前索爾斯克亞表示 ：“我對此很放鬆 。索帅赛弗我也曾多次不同意主帥的罗轮换意見 ，多次告訴我的有比也妻子我不同意教練的意見 ，但這從來沒有成為頭條新聞 。我確信弗格森爵士知道這不會打擾我。”
接著索帥強調 ：“我們都想看到C羅 ，因為他是獨一無二的 ，是與眾不同的 ，每個人都想來球場看他比賽 。他是出色的球員 、出色的終結者 、出色的射手 、出色的職業球員 ，很難把他排除在首發陣容之外 。但一個顯而易見的事實是 ，他不可能參加我們的每一場比賽 ，這是因為球員和人身體上的限製 。”
索爾斯克亞表示，輪換是為了避免在賽季末的關鍵時期掉隊 。“如果你可以連續六天踢六場比賽 ，而且每次都使用同樣的首發陣容 ，那就太好了。但事實是你必須輪換 ，我們需要每個球員都保持狀態，進入明年4、5月份的賽季衝刺期。上賽季我們在賽季末期就太累了 ，我必須為俱樂部管理好球員們。
索爾斯克亞還指出弗格森在執教曼聯時也會根據需要進行輪換 ：“無論如何 ，他知道這份工作有多麽困難 。事實上他也並不總是安排同樣的11名球員首發，他有時會冒險讓吉格斯 、魯尼 、貝克漢姆等人休息，這些都是我們擁有過的‘最好的球員’ 。有時輪換取得了滿意的效果 ，但有時沒有 。”
