莫德裏奇和克羅斯這對曾經為皇馬立下了不世之功的已显中場雙核本賽季依然是齊達內最為信賴的組合 ，但《每日體育報》指出 ，疲态這兩位均已年過三旬的齐达老將近來已顯露出了疲態 。上輪西甲 ，内用皇馬1-1戰平了皇家社會 。俩太比賽中，西媒人們可以明顯感覺到莫德裏奇和克羅斯已經身心俱疲，皇马狠相比於過往 ，中场這對中場雙核在場上的双核狀態明顯下滑 。齊達內在下半場變陣三中衛陣型，已显意圖加強中場 ，疲态增強對對手的壓製 ，但效果並不理想 ，最終對手抓住了皇馬的防守漏洞，破門得分。比賽中，莫德裏奇被換下場，而克羅斯則在場上消失。
