在俱樂部之間 ，谈崩巴薩要求馬競補差價 。巴萨除了這兩人互換之外 ，新动巴薩要求馬競要麽支付2000萬歐元 ，作送要麽讓巴薩再挑走一名球員，联蓝紅藍軍團最想要的马竞是菲利克斯 。巴薩的要求 ，被馬競高層拒絕 ，馬競隻想要用薩烏爾換來格列茲曼 。
在球員方麵，這兩人都拒絕降薪 。格列茲曼不接受降薪，巴薩也不願意替馬競向其支付一部分薪水 ，這使得法國人很難再次為西蒙尼效力。薩烏爾也不願意降薪加盟巴薩 ，經紀人巴內特已經為他聯係了不少英超球隊 ，曼聯如今處於薩烏爾爭奪戰的領跑位置 。
格列茲曼與薩烏爾互換談崩 ，但巴薩還是得清洗法國人 ，以便為梅西和四大新援騰出薪資空間以便完成注冊 。《每日體育報》指出 ，巴薩目前傾向於將格列茲曼送到英超 ，巴薩認為曼聯和切爾西都有可能收留法國人。英超球隊財政上基本都比較健康 ，既能滿足巴薩的轉會費要求，也能滿足格列茲曼的薪資要求。尤文也是巴薩心中備胎之一，但在C羅和迪巴拉都留隊的情況下 ，斑馬軍團並不太需要格列茲曼 。
