《每日鏡報》指出 ，無論貝爾下賽季效力哪一支球隊 ，他都不接受任何形式任何幅度的降薪 。這也就意味著 ，如果熱刺續租貝爾的話 ，皇馬需要繼續為他支付一半年薪 。如果貝爾回歸皇馬的話 ，皇馬要麽補貼薪水解約送走他 ，要麽就要再在板凳上甚至看台上養他一年 。以貝爾的年齡 、狀態和薪資狀況 ，皇馬想把他賣出錢已經不太可能了。
