據悉 ，红军除了疫情和奧密克戎變異株的狂喜影響 ，2022年非洲杯還麵臨著一些俱樂部（主要是法媒非洲英超俱樂部）的施壓，這些俱樂部希望在接下來的幾周時間內 ，球員們能留在俱樂部，以避免因為參加非洲杯後回歸需要接受隔離 ，進而影響俱樂部賽事 。另外 ，英國本土也承受著不小的疫情壓力 。
若2022年非洲杯取消，那麽對於多家英超俱樂部來說無疑是一大好消息 ，尤其是利物浦 。本賽季利物浦成績不俗 ，可謂是三線飄紅 ，而隊內的兩名非洲球員薩拉赫和馬內更是球隊不可或缺的“關鍵先生” 。除此之外 ，幾內亞球員凱塔也是紅軍的重要輪換球員 。如果這三位大將無需返回非洲參加國家隊賽事 ，那更有利於利物浦衝擊各項賽事獎杯 。
