在澳東部時間11日淩晨進行的遭连這場較量中 ，客場作戰的帅球澳大利亞隊作為世界排名第九、亞足聯排名第一的队磨达最球隊 ，雖綜合實力強於丹麥隊 ，澳大奥运但在比賽進行到25分鍾時 ，利亚因後防線連續出現的女足失誤和慌亂 ，被主隊連進三球 。备战败新
全場攻勢占優的遭连客隊在進攻核心克爾帶領下 ，掀起反攻 。帅球終場前3分鍾，队磨达最替補登場的澳大奥运18歲前鋒瑪麗·福勒在門前近距離勁射 ，打入國家隊生涯的首粒進球 。傷停補時階段 ，32歲的後防中堅克萊爾·波爾金霍恩利用角球機會，頭球破門，將比分改寫為2:3 。
