本賽季範德貝克在英超聯賽中僅僅出戰13次 ，联或各項賽事合計出戰27戰 ，换拉但僅僅打進1球 ，比奥助攻1次 。曝尤合計出戰1117分鍾 ，場均出場時間僅為41分鍾 ，甚至湊不齊一個半場。從去年聖誕節結束後 ，範德貝克基本淪為邊緣球員 ，曾經一度連續6場聯賽比賽坐板凳 ，進入2021年英超隻出戰3場 ，最近還遭遇了肌肉傷病 。
曼聯高層對範德貝克非常失望 ，而此時尤文圖斯被曝正在找尋機會簽約這位荷蘭中場。曼聯同時也希望能夠以此為契機 ，簽約同樣在尤文圖斯表現一般的拉比奧 ，法國中場加盟尤文接近2年 ，隻為斑馬軍團打進4球 ，送出3個助攻 。但紅魔高層認為拉比奧的身體素質非常出色 ，能夠比範德貝克更好的適應英超的風格 ，兩家俱樂部未來可能會安排球員互換東家。
而拉比奧在法國國家隊的地位正在逐漸上升，在德尚手下甚至可以與博格巴爭奪一個主力位置 。在博格巴合同明年到期的前提下 ，曼聯如果不能續約則考慮今夏將其賣掉 ，如果紅魔最終清洗博格巴 ，拉比奧入主老特拉福德，也算是能夠最大程度上彌補博格巴離隊帶來的影響 。
巧合的是 ，博格巴的下一站也可能是尤文圖斯，球員本人和很多尤文圖斯前隊友有聯係 ，而且還曾經和現任尤文主帥皮爾洛是並肩作戰的隊友 。
