範德貝克在2018-2019賽季幫助阿賈克斯打進歐冠半決賽，换拉同時也是比奥荷蘭隊更新換代後的中場主力之一 。曼聯在去年以4500萬歐元的曝尤價格收購範德貝克 ，作為紅魔去年夏天的意求用去首筆簽約，範德貝克起初被寄予厚望，购范但之後的德贝表現逐漸走衰 。
本賽季範德貝克在英超聯賽中僅僅出戰13次 ，联或各項賽事合計出戰27戰 ，换拉但僅僅打進1球 ，比奥助攻1次 。曝尤合計出戰1117分鍾，場均出場時間僅為41分鍾 ，甚至湊不齊一個半場 。從去年聖誕節結束後，範德貝克基本淪為邊緣球員 ，曾經一度連續6場聯賽比賽坐板凳 ，進入2021年英超隻出戰3場，最近還遭遇了肌肉傷病 。
曼聯高層對範德貝克非常失望 ，而此時尤文圖斯被曝正在找尋機會簽約這位荷蘭中場 。曼聯同時也希望能夠以此為契機 ，簽約同樣在尤文圖斯表現一般的拉比奧 ，法國中場加盟尤文接近2年 ，隻為斑馬軍團打進4球 ，送出3個助攻 。但紅魔高層認為拉比奧的身體素質非常出色 ，能夠比範德貝克更好的適應英超的風格 ，兩家俱樂部未來可能會安排球員互換東家 。
而拉比奧在法國國家隊的地位正在逐漸上升 ，在德尚手下甚至可以與博格巴爭奪一個主力位置 。在博格巴合同明年到期的前提下 ，曼聯如果不能續約則考慮今夏將其賣掉 ，如果紅魔最終清洗博格巴，拉比奧入主老特拉福德，也算是能夠最大程度上彌補博格巴離隊帶來的影響 。
巧合的是 ，博格巴的下一站也可能是尤文圖斯 ，球員本人和很多尤文圖斯前隊友有聯係 ，而且還曾經和現任尤文主帥皮爾洛是並肩作戰的隊友 。
