當前世界排名第1的利时兰待罗比利時，在本屆歐洲杯的携丹线芬目標是奪冠，他們在小組賽中便展現出了應有的麦出實力，首場3-0大勝俄羅斯贏得開門紅 ，定俄次戰2-1逆轉丹麥延續勝利後 ，出局他們已提前一輪出線，积分隨著在末輪以2-0擊敗芬蘭，歐洲紅魔最終在小組賽中獲得全勝，積9分以B組頭名身份晉級淘汰賽 。
除了比利時之外 ，B組另外一名確定出線的隊伍是丹麥。丹麥在小組賽首輪對陣芬蘭時遭遇意外 ，球隊核心埃裏克森在無對抗的情況下休克倒地 ，比賽一度因此中斷 ，兩隊複賽後 ，備受影響的丹麥0-1負於對手遭遇開門黑。
次輪比賽對陣比利時，盡管對方實力強大 ，但丹麥表現還是讓人眼前一亮 ，開局不到2分鍾便取得領先優勢 ，隻可惜德布勞內替補挺身而出 ，幫助歐洲紅魔扭轉敗局，丹麥最終遺憾輸球。最後一輪比賽 ，對陣俄羅斯 ，丹麥4-1奇跡大勝對手 。
從積分榜上看 ，丹麥 、芬蘭 、俄羅斯同積3分 ，戰績皆為1勝2負。但由於三隊的相互戰績為丹麥0-1芬蘭 、芬蘭0-1俄羅斯 、丹麥4-2俄羅斯 ，三隊小循壞淨勝球數又為丹麥2個 、芬蘭0個 、俄羅斯-2個 ，因此丹麥鎖定B組第二名 ，與排名首位的比利時直接晉級淘汰賽；芬蘭排名小組第三 ，目前出線情況待定；而俄羅斯則墊底出局。
按照賽程安排，排名B組第一的比利時 ，將在1/8決賽中對陣A 、D、E 、F組中戰績最好的第3名球隊 ，而排名B組第二的丹麥在1/8決賽中的對手目前已經確定 ，是獲得A組第二的威爾士 。
