據《米蘭體育報》報道，尤文圖斯的益意主席安德裏亞-阿涅利辭去了歐洲頂級俱樂部的主席一職 ，成為了歐洲超級聯賽的媒欧新任副主席。實際上 ，足联歐足聯原本今日宣布歐冠改製計劃 ，欧冠但阿涅利在最後時刻選擇加入歐洲超級聯賽的改制陣營 。阿涅利表示 ：“歐洲超級聯賽中的日遭12位創始俱樂部擁有全球超過10億人的粉絲 ，在這個關鍵時刻 ，阿涅我們聚集在一起 ，利背讓我們所熱愛的为利體育走上一條長期可持續發展的道路 ，並共同建立一個團結的益意機製 。”
去年11月19日，媒欧通過投票，足联意甲聯賽俱樂部一致投票讚成私人股本加入聯盟 ，欧冠多位資本巨頭對這一合作關係非常感興趣 ，改制並將為這些俱樂部提供總價值17億歐元的擔保 。這對所有經曆過疫情的俱樂部來說都是一筆出人意料的 、能拯救他們於水火之中的財富，包括受疫情影響的意甲豪門尤文圖斯 ，這也充分表明了疫情給足球界帶來的衝擊是毀滅性的。但在進行符合聯盟整體利益的談判中 ，卻產生了一個敵視基金的立場 ，這使得意甲豪門尤文圖斯很快就停止了談判，其他意甲俱樂部也失去了興趣 。因為長期以來 ，意甲聯賽一直都存在電視轉播費分配的問題 ，而且在其他涉及經濟的方麵也存在很多爭議 ，這使得尤文圖斯和其他六個俱樂部代表都不信任聯盟主席達爾-皮諾 ， 並對他進行聯合抵製 。這筆資金應該用於管理意甲聯賽的電視轉播權 ，但是初步協議中的一項條款規定明顯不能讓意甲各俱樂部滿意 ，導致談判最終結果讓人難以接受。
其實 ，這完全可以解釋阿涅利的態度轉變和身份轉變 ：他所支持的歐洲超級聯賽為他的尤文所提供的利益明顯多於普通意甲聯賽帶來的利益 。阿涅利在去年3月的歐洲經委會大會開幕式上說 ，超級聯賽的目的是去保護並促進歐洲足球俱樂部的發展 ，同時也保護所有球員和球迷 。當晚 ，他發表了一份聲明 ，稱封閉的超級聯賽模式將遭到強烈反對 。而作為該機構的最高代表 ，安德裏亞-阿涅利曾與歐足聯首席執行官兼私人朋友切費林密切合作 ，甚至提出了一種 “理想模型” 。之後，歐足聯準備在這個時間節點宣布歐冠改製計劃 ，擴大參賽隊伍的規模至36支球隊 ，增加比賽場次 。但是歐足聯卻發現他們無法與阿涅利取得聯係 ，沒人知道阿涅利去了哪裏。對切費林和歐足聯來說，阿涅利的行為是一種背叛 。
