北京時間8月7日晚19時45分 ，狮门神回手连曼聯在老特拉福德主場的埃弗季前熱身賽中4-0大勝埃弗頓。英格蘭國門皮克福德在本場比賽首發 ，顿变卻上演黃油手導致埃弗頓丟球，黄油他的续失表現受到球迷們的批評 。
現年27歲的误遭皮克福德是英格蘭隊主力門將 ，在今夏歐洲杯上皮克福德表現出色，球迷7場比賽隻丟2球，狂吐幫助英格蘭殺進歐洲杯決賽 。狮门神回手连之後皮克福德一直在休假，埃弗本周才歸隊恢複訓練 。顿变本場比賽是黄油皮克福德在歐洲杯後首次代表埃弗頓出場參賽，但他的续失表現卻無法令人滿意 。
比賽剛開始8分鍾 ，误遭迪涅近距離頭球回傳 ，球迷皮克福德在抱球時出現脫手的低級失誤 ，曼聯小將格林伍德拿到球後推射空門得分 ，埃弗頓0-1落後 。而在第12分鍾 ，皮克福德再次出現抱球脫手的失誤 ，當時B費遠射的威脅並不太大，但皮克福德又一次脫手 ，球到了馬夏爾腳下 。幸好這次馬夏爾準備不足未能形成射門 ，埃弗頓才沒有因為皮克福德的失誤連續丟球 。
