北京時間9月2日 ，日本日本足協官方宣布，足协球隊隊長酒井宏樹因為疲勞過度 ，酒井退出本期國家隊 ，宏树因此也會錯過9月7日23:00 ，退出日本隊與中國的国家国队比賽。
日本足協解釋道 ，队无酒井宏樹在上賽季歐洲聯賽後結束 ，缘中又立即以超齡球員的比赛身份參加東京奧運會，今夏又轉會浦和紅鑽在J聯賽登場 ，日本球員考慮到這段時間的足协工作過於繁重 ，和團隊考慮後選擇離開本期國家隊並休息 。酒井
此外，宏树在剛剛結束12強賽B組首輪的退出一場比賽 ，日本隊0-1爆冷不敵由前山東魯能隊教練伊萬科維奇率領的国家国队阿曼隊，酒井宏樹首發出戰並打滿了全場 。
