12強賽第四輪，国足中國隊客場2:3不敵沙特隊 ，回苏四場戰罷積3分列小組第五 ，州后战李爭取小組第三名的调整队按難度已相當大。當地時間昨天中國隊啟程回國休整 ，天开铁带中國足協全力推進11月份兩個主場比賽放在國內進行的启备工作 。另據了解 ，部班中國隊回到蘇州後可能僅調整2天就將重新投入到新一輪的进行備戰 ，由此不難判斷，国足李鐵教練團隊帶隊工作是回苏按部就班地進行 。
與沙特隊一戰，州后战李中國隊上半場排出532陣型，调整队按意在穩固防守，天开铁带但踢得很被動 ，启备尤其對沙特隊新更換的部班16號球員薩米缺少針對性限製 ，被其分別在14分鍾和38分鍾破門，武磊在34分鍾的單刀射門被門將化解 ，張玉寧外圍再射偏出 。下半場李鐵變陣442 ，派上阿蘭 、洛國富兩名入籍前鋒 ，後者登場不到30秒就在禁區左側踢出一記世界波 ，皮球直接鑽進沙特隊球門後角。扳回一球的中國隊士氣大振，圍攻對手，但不久後沙特隊利用反擊再進一球。第87分鍾吳曦禁區外勁射導致沙特隊替補門將接球脫手 ，皮球滾進門內 。最終中國隊還是沒能打進扳平比分之球 。
本組另外兩場比賽 ，日本隊主場2:1力挫澳大利亞隊；阿曼隊主場3:1擊敗越南隊，兩隊同為6分 ，阿曼隊因為淨勝球多暫排小組第三。沙特隊積12分暫居小組第一；澳大利亞隊積9分暫列第二 。中國隊11月份兩場比賽分別是主場對陣阿曼隊 、澳大利亞隊，李鐵賽後呼籲 ：“我們想要擊敗更強大的對手 ，需要更努力和利用好主場優勢 。”
上屆12強賽中國隊4戰1分 ，本屆拿到一場勝利，總體優於上屆同期 ，目前雖然處境艱難，但還沒有失去晉級可能 。如果能夠利用好兩個主場 ，積分最大限度接近小組第一梯隊 ，中國隊就能把爭取獲得小組第三 、打附加賽的希望保留到12強賽第二階段 。
